Academic collaborations

  • Graduate students and faculty from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada visited COF on 3rd June 2017 as was done during last year. An interactive session was  arranged with the students and faculty at COF on 3rd June 2017 at 9.30 am in the Seminar Hall. Dr. Suzie Lavelle, Professor and leader of the team delivered a brief talk on the 'High education prospects of Forestry graduates at UBC". 
  • SERB-UBC Scholarship. UBC and India's Science and Engineering Research Board  (SERB) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) under which SERB has committed funds to support up to five Indian students to pursue PhD degrees at UBC in a wider variety of areas pertaining to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. This scholarship includes a monthly living allowance of US$2000 (US$24,000 per annum) plus funding by UBC covering the tuition costs. The first awards became available for the September 2016 intake, and the selected students have already commenced their PhD work at UBC. The selection process for the 2017 awards is currently in its final stages.

  • Graduates from the College  Mr. Libin, T.L. and Mr. Vishal Vijayan  were awarded fellowship for full time Masters programme at the Faculty of Forestry, UBC, Canada and are currently pursuing their studies at UBC.

    ACADEMIC COLLABORATION WITH THE FRENCH ACADEMY OF WOOD SCIENCE (ESB) AND THE KERALA AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY.

     

    Signing of MOU with the French Academy of Wood Science (ESB) has been initiated for the  exchange of Masters students from KAU and ESB, Nantes, France. The sample MOU (to be signed between ESB and KAU) was discussed in a faculty meeting and will soon be sent to the University for approval.

    TRAINING CENTRE OF THE FURNITURE AND FITTINGS SKILLS COUNCIL (FFSC) OF THE MINISTRY OF MINISTRY OF SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP, (MSKDE).

     

    A discussion was held with the representative of the Furniture And Fittings Skills Council (FFSC) of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, (MSKDE), Government of India to explore possibilities of making the Wood Technology Centre of the department of Wood Science of the College, a Skill Centre for wood crafts under the above programme of the Prime Ministers’ Kausal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).
